From the President:
Our solar panels have been inspected and are now operational. We can doubly enjoy Canberra’s sunny days. Thank you very much to Claire Hughes for her good work in initiating and following through on this project.
The CBC Novice Matchpoint Pairs and drinks was a very pleasant occasion last Sunday, as was the Seniors morning tea on Monday. Thank you to everyone who contributed food on Monday. Almost too many to list, and I don’t want to forget anyone. Please know that we appreciate your good will towards the club at all times.
And heartfelt thanks to the many hard workers who moved furniture for the carpet stretching exercise. Again I can’t mention them all but I have to put in lights the indefatigable John Hempenstall, with George McLean, Clive Kirkby, Xenon Ciciksza and David Hoffman.
Best wishes,
Pam
Carpets – Please help!
Cleaning will be done by a commercial company from 3pm on Friday 5 April.
We will need furniture-moving helpers from:
- 2pm on Friday 5 April; and after the afternoon session i.e. about 4.15pm
- 30am Saturday morning 6 April – also a general Working Bee at that time
There is a sign-up sheet on the foyer noticeboard if you are able to help.
North/South seats
Would those players who are relatively able bodied please show their appreciation of this by choosing to sit EW on some occasions?
Only those players with a serious mobility problem should ask the managers to reserve a place for them – and, if they are not coming, should let the managers know this.
Reserving Tables
Please return “Reserved” table signs back to the front bench when you have secured your table (or at end of session). Do not leave them out after session as this has caused confusion for future sessions about whether the table is available.
Carpark cards
In our continual efforts to reduce members of the public (not playing bridge) using our carpark, the managers place a note on car windscreens requesting that they should not park in our carpark, but to do so the managers need to know which cars belong to members.
Please collect from the office a small CBC Parking card and display this on your windscreen when parking in the CBC carpark.
